AP:

Casual restaurant chain California Pizza Kitchen Inc. said Tuesday that it inked a franchising deal with WDI Corporation of Japan, setting the stage to open at least 15 locations throughout that nation over the next 10 years.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The company said that WDI is slated to open the first restaurant this fall.

“We have very successful restaurants in other parts of Asia and are excited about bringing the CPK brand to Japan,” said California Pizza Kitchen co-founder and co-CEO Larry Flax, in a statement. “This agreement allows us to bring California-style pizza to the masses and expand in a growing and strategic area,” he added.
