Captain D’s has signed a letter of intent with Restaurant Development Group LLC to develop 125 restaurants over the next 10 years in Puerto Rico.
Restaurant Development Group, based in Brentwood, is led by Danny York. One of his partners in the venture operates 7-11 stores in Puerto Rico. York also is president and CEO of Southern Restaurant Group, which owns Santa Fe Cattle Company Steakhouses in five states and Roly Poly Sandwich Shops, also based in Tennessee. The franchise deal will be the second step for Nashville-based Captain D’s into international territory. Earlier this year, Captain D’s opened the first of three restaurants in Trinidad through a franchise deal that carries the option of 20 more on the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago.
