Finance News:

ALMOST 300 coffee shops will sell News Limited newspapers under a deal brokered to lift sales among impulse buyers and casual readers.
News, publisher of more than 110 newspapers, including The Australian, has inked a deal with Gloria Jean’s Coffees, whose cafes serve nearly 1 million customers a week.

“We expect to increase impulse sales by encouraging new readers to give our newspapers a go whilst also increasing the frequency of sales to existing casual readers,” News circulation director Mark Webster said yesterday.

Mr Webster said the newspapers were to be sold at their normal price at Gloria Jean’s outlets, which would act as newsagency sub-agents like service stations, convenience stores and supermarkets.

Copies of Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph and The Australian were selling in about 120 Gloria Jean’s coffee shops in NSW yesterday.

More than 170 coffee shops in other states will begin selling other News papers, such as Victoria’s Herald Sun and Queensland’s The Courier-Mail, over the next six months.
