Miles Ichinose, owner and operator of McDonald’s Corp. franchises on Oahu, has received the company’s prestigious Golden Arch Award.
The award by McDonald’s is only given once every two years to 30 of the company’s 4,500 franchise owners around the world. Ichinose holds the additional honor of being the first Hawaii franchise owner to receive the award.
“He represents the best of the best,” said Veronica Kaneko, president and managing director of McDonald’s Restaurants of Hawaii.
The Golden Arch Award is given to McDonald’s operators who consistently achieve the highest level of excellence in customer service, community involvement, training and overall business performance.
Ichinose started as an assistant manager at a McDonald’s restaurant 35 years ago, then worked his way up and bought his first restaurant in Waipahu in 1983.
He owns five McDonald’s franchises on Oahu.
