TOKYO — McDonald’s Co said Wednesday it will open more 24-hour shops while amending its low-price campaign by raising prices of major products. Eiko Harada, chairman and president of the hamburger restaurant chain, said his company will open about up to 200 24-hour shops nationwide by this summer to attract young customers.
The company has several such shops currently open but aims at increasing the number to about 900 over several years, he added. The company will raise the price of its popular “value set,” which features a hamburger with French fries and drink, by several tens of yen over the current 500-580 yen, he said. However, the company will keep the campaign for its 100 yen menu in which single items such as hamburgers are sold for 100 yen.
