Scotsman:

SCOTTISH tyre retailer Blackcircles has secured its first franchise outlet in Edinburgh.

And the owner of Seafield Coachworks has been so impressed by the business, which built itself up by selling tyres online, that he has vowed to use his extensive industry contacts to help the Peebles-based company expand its new franchise format across the UK. Seafield boss Bill Neish, first met Blackcircles’ founder and managing director Mike Welch two years ago when the former Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year was forging links with garages throughout the Lothians. “I had been following the progress of Blackcircles since the company’s inception and was aware of the niche in the market which Mike had discovered,” said Mr Neish.

Previously Blackcircles - founded in 2002 - had only sold through its online site with the tyres then being dispatched to a network of local garages for fitting. Now it is looking to franchise its concept.
