Chicago Business:

McDonald’s Corp. is enlisting nine moms from around the world to help the fast food chain appeal to families

The company on Tuesday announced a “global moms panel that will meet twice a year in Oak Brook to meet with top executives, menu development people and marketing folks. “This is our first customer expert panel, says Cathy Nemeth, McDonald’s vice president of global marketing. “We want to make sure we’re meeting their needs.

Former franchisee Richard Adams, who now advises McDonald’s operators, sees the panel as an effort to meet McDonald’s public relations needs as it continues to come under fire from anti-obesity activists. “Fast Food Nation, the 2001 best selling book by Eric Schlosser, is being made into a movie and Mr. Schlosser is aiming a new book, “Chew on This: Everything You Don’t Want to Know About Fast Food at kids.

“I think McDonald’s is vastly overreacting to this upcoming book and movie, Mr. Adams says.
