THE Pick ’n Pay retail chain has secured a court interdict to prevent what it regards as illegal industrial action by unionists at its shops, the company said today.
“Saccawu (SA Commercial Catering and Allied Workers Union) has embarked on illegal industrial action, and as a result we have applied for, and been granted, an interdict to stop unacceptable behaviour,” read a media statement from Nick Badminton, retail managing director of the stores.
“We have had incidents of go slows nationwide and in some cases, staff have come to work but not in uniform. We will be meeting with the union later this week.”
He apologised to customers if any staff had been rude to them.
A union official was not immediately available to comment.
