PlumbLocal, the UK’s leading national plumbing franchise, has appointed its first lady franchisee. Having been through PlumbLocal’s rigorous training courses, Jenny France is now open for business in Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding towns Jenny, 28, previously spent 10 years working as a Military Policewoman, serving in countries including Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Cyprus.
“About a year ago, I decided that I wanted a more settled life involving less international travel and a new career, Jenny recalls. “I looked at all the obvious alternatives for an ex-Military Policewoman including private investigation and security. But I am a very practical person and I just kept coming back to the idea of plumbing.
Male Environment
Having decided that a career in plumbing was her future, Jenny says that the decision to purchase a PlumbLocal franchise was easy. “From the outset, I wanted to be a fully-trained, reliable and trustworthy plumber, ideally with the backing of a national company, she explains. “That is precisely what PlumbLocal have provided. Not only am I fully-trained to City & Guilds standards but I have also completed additional plumbing and tiling qualifications so I can provide my customers with enormous peace of mind.
Jenny reports that, having spent 10 years in a male-dominated military environment, she was not daunted by taking on what is still perceived by many to be a “man’s job. In fact, she sees her femininity as a positive benefit. “For many women and old people, inviting a big, burly plumber into their homes can seem quite intimidating and I think many of them would much prefer to deal with a lady plumber
