
The rise in malls has given boost to many food joints across India. Cookie Man, an Australian brand, has increased its turnover from Rs 65 lakh in FY02 to Rs 10.5 crore in FY06.
“Malls have contributed greatly in our growth. The system wide brand sale of Cookie Man has stood at an estimated Rs 25 crore in 2005-06,” said Pattabhi Rama Rao, president, Australian Foods India.
The Indian JV of the company, Australian Foods India, is all set to make inroads in Gujarat by setting up three stores in Ahmedabad in a year’s time. It also plans to open outlets in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot in the 2-3 years. Cookie Man ranks second in the world in fresh baked cookie products.
“In Ahmedabad, Cookie Man outlet is expected to open in September at Himalaya Arcade in Gurukul area in 400 square feet area,” said Pattabhi Rama Rao, president of Australian Foods India.
Another franchise will come up at Isckon Mega Mall. “We are awaiting the completion of the mall,” Rao added.
