Towering nearly 7 feet tall and weighing more than 300 pounds, Bruce Rossmeyer has earned an impressive title: The world’s largest Harley-Davidson franchise owner.
The Fort Lauderdale Harley dealer jokes about the obvious irony, but Rossmeyer means business when he talks about his role in creating a larger-than-life brand for Milwaukee, Wis.-based motorcycle giant Harley-Davidson Inc.
Rossmeyer owns a dozen super-sized bike dealerships, posts giant highway billboard ads and donates his time — and millions — to local and national children’s charities.
The 63-year-old biker has four South Florida stores and is revving up business here with plans to open another location near Interstate 595 at International Parkway and State Road 84 in Sunrise. The 64,000- square-foot dealership is under construction and set to open in August, bringing Rossmeyer’s store count to 13 in three states — 10 of them in Florida.
