São Paulo - The franchises sector is one of the most promising for the commercial relations between Brazilians and Arabs. The statement was made yesterday (29) by the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Sarkis Jr., during the seminar “The Ways to Internationalisation of Franchises in the Arab World”, which took place at the entity’s auditorium, in São Paulo. The meeting was organised by the Arab Chamber, the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) and the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) as part of a project for encouraging businessmen to open Brazilian franchises in the Arab market.
The project was started by the three entities at the end of the last year and the seminar is part of a first phase, with the aim of preparing the entrepreneurs to work with franchises in the Arab countries. “The Arab countries are excellent markets for those who wish to expand their horizons and internationalise their brand,” stated Sarkis. The president of the Arab Chamber recalled that there are Brazilian brands which are working successfully in the Arab countries. According to Sarkis, these companies managed to work the advantages the Arab market offers.
“There is a consumer target of 324 million people in the 22 countries of the Arab League, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of approximately US$ 1 trillion,” said the president of the Arab Chamber. He recalled that the global trade between Brazil and the countries of the Arab League reached US$ 10.5 billion last year. The next steps in the franchises project are to bring an Arab consultant in the area to speak to the Brazilian entrepreneurs, this year, and hold an event to promote Brazilian brands in the region, in 2007.
