Sunshine Coast Daily:

DOMINO’S Pizza staff have resorted to chanting unfavourable war cries outside the Currimundi Marketplace store of competitor Pizza Hut in a bid to win the heart and minds of local pizza lovers.

The latest incident flared up on Sunday afternoon when a group of 10 to 15 uniformed Domino’s staff –including management from the Currimundi outlet – shouted anti-Pizza Hut slogans as customers passed by.

According to bemused Pizza Hut franchisees Artie and Robbie Shepherd, the attempts by Domino’s to discredit their four-year-old business have been going on for about a year.

Robbie said Domino’s staff had at times paraded their “wobble-board deals out the front of his store twice a week and handed out Domino’s vouchers in the Pizza Hut car park Pizza Hut store manager Jason Davis even reported finding Domino’s discount vouchers stuffed in the exhaust pipe and underneath the bonnet of his car at Christmas but, with no proof of the culprit, was cautious not to point the finger towards those working with the dots on the box.

Artie Shepherd said Pizza Hut staff were taking the high ground by not retaliating with their own campaign.

“We’ve heard from people who have worked there (Domino’s) that there’s a win-at-any-cost culture that promotes this sort of thing and allows them to temporarily break the rules along the way, he said.
