Coffee House Filled To The Brim

INDIO – It’s a Grind Coffee House was officially christened as a new Indio Chamber of Commerce member at a ribbon cutting on July 13.

About 35 people attended the event, according to Lyn Hartley, the chamber’s committee and events coordinator.

The current favorite drink among It’s a Grind patrons is the ice blended mocha, “our signature drink,” said Kerry Anderson. Customers order them at a rate of about 60 to 70 a day, she said.

It’s a Grind Coffee House, a franchise business established in 2001, has 90 locations throughout the country – 56 in California. The corporate office is located in Long Beach.

This is the second It’s a Grind franchise to open in the Coachella Valley – the first was in Rancho Mirage – according to marketing director Bob Phibbs.

It’s a Grind in Indio, which opened for business on April 28, has a staff of 12. Anderson’s children, Courtney, 17, and Jack, 8, work for the family business.
