Overseas ‘Top Model’ is a beauty by design:

TV viewers in numerous Middle Eastern countries are tuning into America’s Next Top Model, thanks to an extensive satellite broadcast arrangement for the region. Supermodel Tyra Banks, creator, host and executive producer of the show, and her bevy of beautiful young ladies who crave runway renown are not only ramping up viewer numbers in that troubled part of the world but are also rapidly becoming a global TV franchise.

(…) Today, Top Model is airing in 110 countries in its original U.S. version and is selling as a locally produced format at a rapid rate. It’s on air in such diverse territories as the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Jamaica, Iceland, Nigeria and Pakistan. It’s also a major audience draw in just about all the major European territories, where it garners some very impressive female demographics. Locally produced versions also are set for the home of haute couture, France (on M6), as well as for the U.K. (Living), Russia (CTC), Germany (ProSieben) and Australia (FoxTel), among others. The show has been licensed as a format to 11 territories in all. There is a production team within CBS Paramount International Television that oversees the production on the formats, keeping them true to the ‘mothership.’ The team works directly for the division’s president, Armando Nunez Jr.

‘The America’s Next Top Model franchise has done very well around the globe with its U.S. version as well as its formats,’ Nunez says. ‘Ken Mok, Tyra Banks and their team have done a great job in making the show with universal appeal - beauty, fashion and drama.’ …
