MALAYSIAN franchise businesses are fast gaining recognition at the international level, especially around South-East Asian and West Asian markets.Most local exhibitors at the Franchise International Malaysia (FIM 2006) have a few franchise outlets in countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

Sweet corn products producer, Daily Fresh Foods Sdn Bhd, has operated more than 1,200 kiosks worldwide through franchising and about 350 kiosks in the country.The company, which was established in 1997, operates kiosk- and cafe-concept outlets that offer corn in a cup with various flavours, waffle, Gelato ice-cream and hot and cold beverages.

With a small start-up franchise fee of between RM35,000 and RM40,000, franchises can expect returns of investment within a year.

Among the franchise assistance provided by the group are site location, training, advertising and promotion and ongoing support.
