You can forgive business consultant Robin Shear for thinking Stop & Shred was a franchise when he walked into the store for the 1st time to meet with co-owner Steve Jaeger.
That’s because Stop & Shred, which specializes in document destruction for businesses and walk-in customers, has the look of a franchise. The red and tan color scheme inside the business extends to its exterior. In fact, a red strip painted around the outside of the building at 5325 Industrial Road, Suite B, was recently repainted to better match the shade of red found in Stop & Shred’s logo.
Inside, employees sporting red polo shirts feed documents into a similarly hued shredding machine. Shelves lining one wall are filled with empty cardboard document boxes, each emblazoned with the company’s logo. Even courtesy bottles of water are affixed with a Stop & Shred label. ‘When I came to talk with Steve, I thought it had already been franchised. It had the look and feel,’ Shear said.
It wasn’t, but it soon will be. Starting in November, Jaeger hopes to begin offering Stop & Shred as a franchise business to potential entrepreneurs across the country.
