Starbucks will open its first store in Brazil in November and also has plans to open in Central America, a senior official said on Monday.
Senior vice president of procurement Dub Hay said Starbucks’ arrival in Brazil “is going to be a very exciting adventure for us,” but did not say in which city its first Brazilian cafe would open.
In May, the company announced plans to bring its first stores to the city of Sao Paulo within a year but did not specify a date.
Hay said the company plans to open another 2,000 shops globally in 2007, to add to the roughly 12,000 it currently has in 37 countries.
He said half of the new stores slated to open next year in the United States will likely be drive-thru stores instead of traditional walk-in cafes.
