Oswego County is not exactly a mecca for entrepreneurs. Unless you’re Ramesh ‘Roger’ Modi, that is. The native of India has cast aside the reputation Oswego County has built as an economically deprived area.
Despite seemingly staggering odds, he has slowly but surely built a hotel empire that now encompasses the former Redwood Motel in Pulaski.
Modi, 46, recently purchased the Redwood Motel, state Route 13, Pulaski, from Chuck Krupke, a staunch county tourism advocate. He paid $1.26 million for the Pulaski property, and he intends to spend $100,000 for renovations at the site over a 1-year period.
The Redwood was owned and operated by Krupke for 43 years. Modi owns the Days Inn of Oswego, 101 state Route 104 East, and Scottish Inn & Suites, 309 W. Seneca St., both in the city of Oswego.
Entrepreneur Steve Thomas sold both motels for $2.7 million in October 2004 to Modi. He converted the former Thomas Inn to the Scottish Inns & Suites franchise.

I hope they made superb jobs with those motels. Tourists are very particular with accommodations. So I hope they’ll do good. Goodluck!
