Franchising in Holland represents a great chance of business for people interested in investing or in working on one’s own account. It started its development in the earlier ‘70s and in 1972 the first association of franchising (a no-profit organization), Nederlandse Franchise Vereniging (NFV) began its growth in Hilversum. Its aim was, first of all, to promote franchising and to join together most of the Dutch franchisors.
All the registered franchisors can participate regularly in seminars and congress (the most important is De National Franchise Dagen, which always takes place every year, in October, with all the franchisors and the potential ones).
Nowadays, more than 450 franchisors work in this country, and there are about 20.000 outlets.
Prospects of franchising development in Holland are very interesting, because the country deals great opportunities to invest in and it displays a swift growth in commercial services’ field.
In Holland, as in many other European countries, there aren’t specific rules about franchising, as it is required to base on the commercial law concerning contracts and bonds.
