Ten national finalists will travel to Birmingham on 5 October to compete for the £5,000 Gold Winner’s cheque, while runners up will receive cheques for £3,000 and £2,000.

Among this year’s 10 national finalists are two husband and wife teams, a 63-year-old ex-military policewoman, a former paediatric nurse and a 27-year-old who started out as a pizza delivery boy, all of whom are franchisees from Action International, Belvoir Property, Care @, Chemex, Chem-Dry, Domino’s Pizza, Jo Jingles, Pitman Training, Prontaprint and Riverford Organic.

“[Our 10 winners’] success stories are not only representative of hard work and commitment, but also testament to the support provided by a successful franchising business model, said Cathryn Hayes, head of franchising for HSBC Bank.

“HSBC also recognises the valuable contribution franchisees such as these make to the UK economy by creating local businesses, wealth and jobs.
