Courant.com:

Jerry Borodkin has seen the future of gift giving, and it comes cut, skewered and sometimes dipped in chocolate.

The veteran franchise owner has bet not once - but twice - on the Hartford area’s desire for sliced fresh fruit arranged artistically to look like a bouquet of flowers.

He sees the colorful treats that sell for $50 to $100 being everywhere one day - at holiday parties, at church gatherings, at school fundraisers.

That confidence in the future of ‘fruquets’ has Borodkin and hundreds of others buying franchises in Connecticut-based Edible Arrangements.

Since its 1st franchise opened in 2001, the company has grown to almost 350 locations, with another 250 in development. It plans to have 1,000 signed up by early next year, and CEO and founder Tariq Farid is searching for new countries to expand to. More.
