If you’re interested in learning about franchising, you might want to clear your calendar later this week.
The University of Texas at El Paso Franchise Center will have its semi annual 2å-day certificate seminar Thursday through Saturday at the Camino Real Hotel Downtown.
Seats are still available for the event, Franchise Center Executive Director Carolyn Gough said. The cost is $950.
“This is designed to give people the empowerment to make an intellectual decision on franchising,” Gough said.
El Pasoan Hugo Sandoval and his wife, Esther Chavez, attended the seminar during the spring. They are still researching what franchise they would like to purchase.
“If you’re interested in a franchise, it’s very useful,” Sandoval said. “It tells you what to look for and what to avoid. It’s a great starting point. They also tell you what resources are available here in El Paso.”
Karla Heras, franchise relations-marketing manager for family-owned El Taco Tote, also attended the spring seminar.
“It’s great for networking,” said Heras,
whose family has been selling franchises for about four years. “You get to be aware of other businesses, not just in the area. We had people from New York and other cities. You get a lot of insight as well.”
El Taco Tote has three franchise locations in San Antonio, two in Phoenix and one each in Tucson and Albuquerque.
