The Firkin Group of Pubs, the largest English pub chain in North America, recently inked a multi-unit franchise agreement bringing four pubs to Clark County in Vancouver. Lisa and Jon Clifton along with Debby and Allen Wear expect to open their first pub in April 2007 near the Vancouver Mall.

“My partners and I have always dreamed of having a pub but didn’t want to take the risk of opening up our own concept—we wanted a proven brand, says Lisa. “We chose the Firkin Group of Pubs because they didn’t look or feel like a franchised, cookie cutter pub. They’ve created a Cheers atmosphere where people of all ages could feel comfortable and hang out; it’s like your local neighborhood pub where everyone knows your name.

While all of the partners are experienced entrepreneurs with business backgrounds, Allen, Lisa’s brother, will serve as General Manager of the restaurants. Mr. Wear has 17 years of restaurant experience.

Named the 2005 “Best Pub in Toronto by Toronto Sun Readers, The Firkin Group of Pubs is not your ordinary pub chain in a box. Drawing inspiration from their tagline, “every Firkin is a little different, one’s just right for you, this authentic pub franchise has mastered the concept with top notch service, food and plush English décor.
