If the services from a business or a highly skilled professional aren’t convenient for you to visit, don’t despair - these days, chances are they’ll come to you.
From pizza deliveries and flowers to the weekly groceries, more businesses are willing to make house calls.
Naperville residents Katie Dwyer and her husband, Dennis, forged a new at-home service called Lollipop Portraits - a photography service that comes right to your door.
Katie Dwyer said the idea for the business hatched in her head just a few months ago following a conversation with her husband. ‘We were one of those couples that were told we’d never have children and suddenly, there we were with our daughter Sarah who was born last year,’ she said. ‘My husband and I were taking her to have her picture taken, and we realized how stressful it was between putting the baby down for a nap, getting her dressed and having to drive over to the portrait studio. We thought about how great it would be for people to come to your home.’
… On a national level, Amy Bannon, spokesperson for the International Franchise Association, based on Washington D.C., said that van-based businesses like the Dwyers‘ offer great opportunities for franchising as well as for just being successful.
