Q. Can you give us a brief overview of your company and your activities in the Middle East?
A. Master Franchisers was founded in 2005 to fill an existing gap in the market. Based in Dubai, we act as a regional master franchising agent for international brands seeking Middle East expansion, and as retail operator for selected brands outside of Saudi Arabia.
As a company, we hold the expertise to manage and develop acquired business format franchises as well as operate our own retail stores. Our current interest is expansion in the Middle East and into the subcontinent, in the emerging markets of India, Pakistan and China.
Q. What exactly is Business Format Franchising?
A. In business format franchising, the franchisor prescribes for the franchisee a complete plan, or format, for management and operation. The major advantage of buying a business format franchise is that the “system�, the means for distributing goods and/or services, has been developed, tested and associated with the trademark. As a result, rapid expansion of a successful retail concept can occur more quickly than through company-owned expansion.
