
CALGARY — Sporting goods retailer Forzani Group Ltd. (TSX: FGL) says its third-quarter profit soared 83 per cent to a record $11.9 million.
Earnings for the quarter ended Oct. 29 amounted to 35 cents a share, compared with 20 cents per share a year ago, the Calgary-based company reported Friday.
Analysts’ consensus forecast was for earnings of 27 cents a share, before one-time items, according to Thomson Financial.
Retail system sales were $339.5 million, an increase of 10.4 per cent. And total revenue, consisting of corporate store sales, wholesale sales, service income, equipment rentals, franchise fees and franchise royalties, was $346.3 million, up 13.4 per cent.
