Baoz, Malaysia’s famous ‘pau’ (steam bun) specialist, plans to spread its wings to several regional markets over the next 2 years. For a start, the company has identified 5 potential markets namely Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Middle East and the UK.
Viva Berkat general manager Lim Wooihong (photo) said the company is targeting to set up at least 30 Baoz outlets in the 5 countries by 2008 through franchising. Viva Berkat currently owns and operates 12 outlets in Malaysia.
‘We are currently in talks with several big groups overseas which are keen to have business dealing with us. If all goes well, we hope to see the plan materialise by the later part of next year or early 2008,’ he told reporters when announcing Baoz’s 1st outlet opening in Penang recently.
The outlet in Penang, located at a seafront shopping complex in Bayan Baru, is the company’s 1st franchised store.
