Hamilton woman Briar Collins went from full-time student to franchise owner in a matter of minutes.
The 23-year-old recently completed a year-long course with Elite International School of Beauty and Spa Therapies in Hamilton, then found out she had won a scholarship package worth $40,000.
The package included a Beauty on Demand franchise, equipment, training and product to get the business running.
Ms Collins was named as the school’s top graduate.
She planned to set up a mobile beauty clinic that would offer services such as facials, waxing and tanning.
The scholarship was funded by Elite International, Arrow Beauty and Dermal International.
