Delinatural (M) Sdn Bhd, the master franchisee for the New Zealand Natural (NZN) ice cream brand in Malaysia, plans to open five more outlets nationwide this year.
Its executive director Khong Yao Lung said plans were afoot for the company to expand its operations into cities such as Johor Bahru, Ipoh and Melaka.
“Currently we have established six NZN ice cream parlours in the Klang Valley, he told FinancialDaily at the launch of Delinatural’s seventh NZN outlet at a sea-fronting mall in Penang recently.
“Our immediate focus will be on opening our new flagship store in Bukit Bintang in January (2007), he said, adding that response towards its products was encouraging.
NZN, the largest premium ice cream parlour in New Zealand and Australia, first arrived on Malaysian shores in December 2003 under its previous Singapore-based franchise holder Delinatural (Asia) Pte Ltd with the first outlet at the Ikano Power Centre in Mutiara Damansara.
Delinatural (Asia), which then held the franchise for both Singapore and Malaysia, transferred its rights for Malaysia to Delinatural (M) in October last year.
“Our focus is to bring to the public a range of low-fat and healthy products, including fully imported New Zealand ice creams, fat-free sorbets, low-fat fruit yoghurts, smoothies and coffee, Khong said.
