Pizza Hut Ad Campaign Reignites Papa John’s Rivalry

A new advertising campaign from Pizza Hut has reheated a long-running rivalry with one of its top competitors, Papa John’s International.

The two chains had been in a cease-fire since March 2001, when Pizza Hut gave up a legal battle to stop Louisville-based Papa John’s from using its “Better Ingredients, Better Pizza” slogan.

But the acrimony of the old pizza wars returned this week after Pizza Hut, part of Louisville-based Yum! Brands Inc., launched two television commercials targeting both Papa John’s and Domino’s.

In one spot, delivery drivers from the three chains gather around a table as they dig into a Pizza Hut order.

“Now this is real pan pizza,” one driver tells the others.

“Sure tastes better than Domino’s,” another adds.

“And Papa John’s,” a third says.

    … rivalry on business is very normal, i think, competitors is like your energy… because without them you will never create a more good gimmicks or tricks for your business to become more imaginative….
