Consider not only what you are buying, but also what restrictions there are on selling the franchise.
Make sure you are a good match for the business. Work in one of the franchises, especially if it involves food, to see what it is like.
Hire a franchise attorney if you are close to signing. Franchise agreements are written in legalese and filled with details about the responsibilities of the franchisor and the franchisee. Examples include who pays for training and who pays the lease if you fail.
