A Christchurch couple’s Reload salad and health juice bar franchise is making smooth progress with its Asian and European expansion plans.

Mel and Conrad van de Klundert started their first Reload bar concentrating on juices and coffee in Dunedin in 2000, and have franchise expansion plans in Singapore and Britain.

They also have two Reload franchises in Christchurch.

Singaporean-New Zealander Betty Goh was to open the first Singapore Reload bar in Millennium Walk next month, having bought the master franchise in November, van de Klundert said.

Goh would then progress to spread the brand by selling franchises for $S55,000 ($NZ50,960).

“We’ve got interest from eight other buyers,” he said.

Under the British franchise, Keith Stark and Nadia Sorby were due to open a first outlet in Glasgow also next month.

“They want to set up another 20 within the next two years, and they want to own six

shops themselves,” he said.
