Firehouse Subs plans to enter the Washington, D.C. market when it opens a restaurant in northern Virginia in April. The opening is the first of what are 40 planned restaurants to open in the next five years in northern Virginia, D.C. and southern Maryland.
Firehouse has hired Daniel Lowe as area representative for the new market. Lowe will sell individual locations to franchisees, who typically operate one to five restaurants and oversee daily operations.
The startup cost for each restaurant is between $191,000 and $355,000 for the franchise fee, construction and capital costs. Unlike other franchises, Firehouse Subs does not have minimum net worth requirements for franchisees. The company plans to open about 100 new restaurants in 2007.
