A disjointed inspection system has left the nation vulnerable to food-borne illness, says a report to Congress.

food-safety-program.jpgPresident George W. Bush wants to devote an additional $11 million toward food safety programs in fiscal 2008, but critics say the amount isn’t enough to address the country’s food safety issues.

The Government Accountability Office has called the federal food safety program ‘critically flawed.’
