Northland’s Tuileries Plaza has signed another round of tenants.
Em Chamas Brazilian Grill, for ‘in flames,’ is scheduled to open today. ‘It’s like nothing here in Kansas City,’ said Nick Silvio, co-owner with Jeff Petersen (photo).
The fixed-price Brazilian churrascaria - or steakhouse - will feature a gourmet hot/cold buffet serving fresh vegetables, cured meats, cheeses, assorted salads and traditional Brazilian dishes.
Entrees include beef, pork, lamb, chicken, sausage and fish - skewered and roasted rotisserie style over a wood flame, then carved over the diner’s plate.
Chefs pass through the restaurant carrying the large cuts of meats, and diners signal when they want an item and choose how much they want to take on. The price is $29 per person, with drinks and desserts extra.
‘The grill masters cook the meat and bring it out tableside to cut it off, 14 different cuts,’ Silvio said. ‘It’s a lively atmosphere, like carnival all year round.’
Silvio and Petersen, who had previously been involved with Piropos, have planned to bring the concept to Kansas City for more than 5 years. Cesar Sangaletti, a native of southern Brazil with 23 years of experience in churrascarias, is the lead passadore, or grill master.
