Healthy Eating Trends Helped Drive Owners Of McAlister’s Deli

When Darin Thompson and his wife, Laurie, decided to start a new franchising venture, they looked for something that would appeal to people.

‘We choose McAlister’s because there is a trend of healthy eating among people,’ Thompson said.

Jefferson City’s first McAlister’s Deli opened last Monday at 2323 Missouri Blvd.

McAlister’s Deli is a national restaurant chain that specializes in ‘fast, casual’ dinning. Patrons order at the counter, but receive table service throughout the meal.

The menu consists of everything from deli sandwiches to baked potatoes and brownies. There is no fried food on the menu.

‘The concept is usually well received,’ Thompson said. ‘We think will be great here.’
