Consultation with the franchising industry is underway on the implementation of the Australian government’s response to a review of the disclosure provisions of the Franchising Code of Conduct, with changes likely to be made law after the budget.

“The franchising industry has welcomed the findings of the review, which was based on careful consultation with the industry.

“Now we must implement the findings to ensure the benefits flow on to the industry,” says Fran Bailey, Minister for Small Business and Tourism.

Consultation will include industry representative bodies, individual franchisors and franchisees, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Office of the Mediation Adviser and relevant government departments.

Bailey is urging all those with an interest in the implementation of the review to contact their representative bodies or the Office of Small Business.
