Brinker International Inc. said Monday that it has inked a franchising deal with a Houston company to open five On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina restaurants in South Texas.
New restaurants are planned for Harlingen, Laredo, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Also as part of the deal, franchisee Moussa Haidar bought one existing On the Border in Corpus Christi. Haidar’s company already operates other franchise restaurants throughout South Texas, including some IHOP restaurants.
The restaurants in Harlingen and Laredo will be the first On the Border concepts to open so close to Mexico.
