The training will be held in association with the American University of Dubai. The first programme on “Identifying business opportunities” will run from 15 - 25 April, while the “Franchising” programme is scheduled for 29 April - 13 May.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders said:

The “Identifying Business Opportunities” programme is a blend of creativity, innovation, product development and integrated communication. The programme will enable participants to develop skills necessary to identify and assess potential business opportunities, and to create new business opportunities.

The “Franchising” programme seeks to develop an understanding of franchising as a business option from the point of view of the franchisor and the franchisee, their roles and responsibilities, the underlying economics, legal aspects of the contractual relationship between the franchisor and franchisee, and managing a franchise to deliver value to consumers.

The training programmes will be conducted in English. Classes will be held twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays for two hours each from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the American University of Dubai. Both training programmes are open to UAE nationals and expatriates.

I actually just got back from a trip to Dubai to attend the FME convention (about 3 weeks ago). Franchising is HUGE in the UAE. However, it’s slightly different from franchising in the US. Here in the US, you have the franchisor and franchisees. In the UAE, they pretty much only grant master franchise rights to inestment group. The investment group then open it’s own stores, not subfranchising the concept. A different way of franchising which seems to work pretty well…
