Reportedly, these discussions will enable Mothercare to acquire minor stake in Goodbaby.

Mothercare is one of the major export successes of Britain with over 38 franchisee outlets overseas, which are growing at an average pace of 30%.

Fastest growing branches include India, where the company partner aims to have 100 franchisee stores.

Experts believe that Chinese venture would prove to be the most significant step for the company.

However, sources say that it was just the beginning and that there was a possibility of talks not reaching any deal at all.

Goodbaby is a private equity backed firm that plans to open of a chain of jointly branded stores.
