The Portuguese market represents a potential fertile and wide ground to develop franchise and the perfect launching trampoline for the Brazilian market. It is still developing, recording, year after year, an increase of 10%, counting 56% of Portuguese brands.
Concerning international incomings, Brazil shows to be the most relevant and numerous Brazilian brands open every year in Portugal. We have assisted to a real boom of franchise by the entry of many foreign chains, recording a rate of growth which is stronger than in other European neighbouring countries.
The most driving sectors are the specialised services, including the real estate, and the health and beauty services, representing about the half of the opportunities. Concerning the commerce, despite of the crisis, the kids wear stands out, as well as the specialised shops: products for elderly, natural products, book shops and pet shops.
The Portuguese law hasn’t developed any specific rules to impact the franchising agreement.
