The decision to start your own business is a life-changing one. You quit your job, cash in your 401(k) and abandon the familiar for the uncertain. When I found myself in this position a decade ago, I was determined to find an opportunity that would not only support me for the rest of my life, but that I would enjoy doing for the duration as well. The rest, as they say, is history.
I became a corporate America convert in 1996, shortly after moving to San Francisco to continue my career in advertising.
There were a lot of things about the industry I enjoyed, but the pros didn’t outweigh the cons. Jill, my wife, was equally dissatisfied with her job status, so we began exploring other options, keeping ownership at the forefront of our search.
