Franchising in Austria starts developing at the end of ’80s. The system has exponentially grew up until 2002: the number of franchisors has changed from 45 to 330 as well as that of franchisees, which has changed from 500 to 4700.

The Austrian jurisprudence has never developed a specific law to impact franchise: the sector is regulated by the commercial rules in force as well as by the international law concerning this formula.
