When is Tallahassee going to get a Dunkin’ Donuts?
Robert Rodriguez doesn’t know, exactly. He’s more concerned about how long it will take for Florida’s capital city to have 30.Dunkin’ Donuts’ brand president has announced plans for 30 locations in Tallahassee within the next five years. The move is part of a national plan to grow the business from 5,000 to 15,000 locations by 2020.
In the immediate future, Tallahassee should get two locations, Rodriguez said. The search is under way for franchise owners. Once the franchise agreements are in place, Rodriguez said, the company will announce the two locations. He hopes the shops will be open by the fourth quarter of 2007.
Tallahassee has been without a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise since 2005.
Rodriguez also shared a not-too-closely-held Dunkin’ Donuts secret: It’s not about the doughnuts.
“About 60 percent of our sales come from coffee,” he said. “There’s a culture around coffee.”
And that culture requires convenience, he said.
