Fasfik the largest independent chain of tyres, brakes and lubrication service centres, plans to open 100 outlets yearly to gain economies of scale in providing affordable services.

The new outlets will be located at various residential and commercial centres nationwide, according to the company.

“One outlet would cost about RM100,000 and our target is for Fasfik to have 300 outlets by 2009 from the current 25 outlets,” chairman Datuk Pahamin A. Rajab told reporters after signing an apprenticeship programme agreement with Empire Putra College, a vocational training institute.

On the agreement, he said it was aimed at enhancing manpower skills and professionalism in the motor industry.

Under the programme, there are three tailor-made courses — Fast-Track Apprenticeship in Automotive Technician, Fast-Track Apprenticeship in Automotive Supervisor and Intensive Apprenticeship in Automotive Entrepreneurship.
