Franchising in Chile registered a relevant growth rate around the end of 80ies, chile.jpgwhen various fast-food chains entered the market. Nowadays franchising is in full development, especially because many Chilean companies have chosen this system to spread out their brand. In 2006 a turnover counting 165 millions Euros was registered, with 113 brands, whose the 73% is represented by foreign companies; the most relevant are Subway, McDonald’s and Domino’s Pizza. We count about 120 franchisors working in Chile and nearly 1000 outlets.

During the latest years numerous sectors have been planning their development by franchising as some optics chains, chemist’s shops, training and communication centers, ironmonger’s shops and home services. The less exploited sectors are represented by leisure, aesthetics and car services, even if they show great potentialities. The driving category is that of restoration, especially fast-food restaurants…
