Bonanza will not be rebuilt at 1325 St. Louis St. in Batesville, but Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits will take its place.

The site where Bonanza once stood is being developed for the New Orleans-style restaurant because the new Bonanza prototype buildings are too large for the space where the old restaurant was located, said business owner Kevin Morrow.
‘This lot is not large enough to accommodate the new 9,000-square-foot Bonanzas,’ he said.
Morrow said a new Bonanza is still in the works and an announcement will come later.
Popeye’s is expected to be open by mid-December and will employ about 50 people to begin with. Managing partner of the business will be Charles Moser, who has been at Colton’s for 6 years. Jason Roberts will also be a manager. Both Moser and Roberts will have to take part in a six-week training session in the near future.
Morrow said he had reasons for choosing Popeye’s as the site replacement.
