Seven Eleven Plc, the operator of 7-Eleven convenience stores, is confident that its 2007 revenues will achieve a 15% growth target despite a decline of consumer spending in the first half.

Managing director Piyawat Titasattavorakul said the company had sought to boost same-store sales by offering discounts and new exclusive products to attract customers.

Consumer spending had fallen in recent months due to political and economic uncertainties, he said.

Same-store-sales growth fell to 1% to 3% year-on-year in the second quarter from 7% to 8% in the first quarter. Growth has since rebounded to 5% thanks to new promotions.

“We will continue to do our promotion activities to boost our same-store-sales growth in the latter half of this year. We hope our efforts will bear fruit and lead to revenue growth of 15% for the whole year,” Mr Piyawat said at a briefing on Friday.
