Franklins has decided to franchise its supermarkets to compete with Woolworths and Coles.
The Australian Financial Review reports that Franklins will base its franchise model on that of South African parent company Pick ‘n Pay.
In this way, franchisees, with a financial stake in the investment, will be able to give more attention to the customers and they will also have the support of the franchisor.
There are 6 franchised Franklins stores in Australia, with plans for that to expand to 10 by February. Franklins MD Aubrey Zelinsky said there are plans to add 10 franchises a year.
